My name is Colten Powers, and fishing has been part of me since I was a kid growing up in southern Tennessee. I spent every spare minute moving from pond to pond, chasing bass, and learning the water one cast at a time. It was never just a hobby. It was the thing that made me feel at home.
As I got older, that love for the water led me into the U S Coast Guard, where I discovered a whole new world of coastlines. While serving, I realized fishing was not just something I did for fun. It was what I was meant to do. That is when I started building custom rods and brought a small shop with me everywhere I was stationed. I have fished all over the country, from the jetties in south Texas to the bays in California to the clear blue waters of Puerto Rico. Each place taught me something new about gear, technique, and what anglers really need in a rod.
Custom rod building is personal to me. It is not just putting parts together. It is creating something that fits you, your style, and the fish you are after. Every rod I build is meant to feel like an extension of your own hands.
What started in a small Tennessee pond turned into a life of travel, adventure, and chasing fish across the country. That journey created Coastal Nomad, a brand inspired by exploring new waters and staying connected to the places that shaped me.
Let’s build a rod that feels right for you and helps you make every cast count.
